The Saint
Louis Ambassadors History

Since 1965, The Saint Louis Ambassadors has been serving the metropolitan area as a civic organization dedicated to promoting St. Louis and improving the quality of life.

The Saint Louis Ambassadors began serving the community in 1965 when Mayor Alfonso J. Cervantes pooled the talent and energy of a small group of concerned citizens to form the organization. The membership has grown steadily over the years.

Our projects include the Restoration of the Statue of St. Louis in front of the Art Museum, the recognition of the 225th Anniversary of St. Louis’ Founding, the lease management of Kiener Plaza Park downtown, recognition of the 20th Anniversary of the Moon Landing, the display of State Flags in the Rotunda of City Hall, the renovation of Cabanne House in Forest Park and the renovation of mayor’s portraits.

During the mid to late seventies the membership experienced a period of decline. However, in 1981 a new dedication to The Saint Louis Ambassador organization and its programs, projects and events was cultivated.

The Saint Louis Ambassadors is one of the premier civic booster organizations for St. Louis. With the support of our chairman, Mayor Clarence Harmon, The Saint Louis Ambassadors is playing a major role in promoting and enhancing St. Louis life and St. Louis civic affairs.

Our Auction, Holiday Toy Drive, Cabanne House Restoration Project, 225th Anniversary Celebration, Golf Tournament, Annual Luncheons, social events and Annual Ball, offer civic-minded citizens a wide variety of opportunities to become directly involved with enhancing the quality of life in St. Louis and the region.

More than any other civic organization, members of The Saint Louis Ambassadors, through the contribution of their individual effort as well as through the contribution of their annual dues, provide the resources so vital to our continued success.

If you are looking to become more involved in St. Louis, to become more part of the excitement and energy that has given St. Louis renewed local pride and national recognition, The Saint Louis Ambassadors is the organization for you.

Please join us in achieving the goal of bringing St. Louis to the full realization of its potential.
