Volunteering

The Saint Louis Ambassadors understands the importance of community outreach. Students, scout troops and civic organizations are recruited and paired as they volunteer to help local charities, special events and programs succeed. Below is a sample list of some of the organizations we partner with to supply volunteers.

HEAT UP / COOL DOWN St. Louis

Heat-Up St. Louis, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity that focuses on helping area elderly and disabled people, and low-income families, with their delinquent heating bills in Missouri and Illinois in the St. Louis region, that began its operations in December 2000. 100% of all pubic and private donations go to helping the needy. Our diverse all-volunteer board of directors underwrite all administrative expenses related to the execution of each winter and summer program. Our mission is to provide utility counsel, referrals, heat (winter) and cooling (summer) grants to restore a primary home heating source during the winter and assist with air-conditioners, and payments on high electric bills in the summer for at-risk households. The needy includes the working poor and those Americans who may be temporarily laid-off or often trapped in a economic crisis.

Operation Food Search – Back Pack Program

85% of children enrolled in the St. Louis Public School District rely on free or reduced cost meals. For those children, weekends are filled with hunger and despair. Operation Back Pack exists to help meet the nutritional needs of children over the weekend.

Back Packs full of nutritious, kid-friendly, easy to prepare foods are given to children on Friday before school dismissal. Each back pack contains two proteins, two grains, two snacks, two fruits and/or vegetables, and one dairy item. On Monday, students return the empty back packs and the cycle continues.
